About the ACTION Campaign Addiction treatment no-shows and cancellations have traditionally been assumed to spring from client resistance to change. Over the past five years, several hundred agencies and individuals have operated under a different assumption: that poor service delivery and complex administrative procedures discourage people from seeking or continuing treatment.
Launched in October 2007, the ACTION Campaign aims to help agencies and individual treatment providers improve client access and retention using a process improvement model developed by the Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (NIATx).
The ACTION Campaign introduces specific changes that you can test to improve one of three areas:
- Providing rapid access to services
- Improving client engagement
- Creating a seamless transition between levels of care
Simple changes in these areas -- using practices tried and tested by treatment professionals -- have reduced or eliminated waiting lists and no-shows, streamlined paperwork, and increased client engagement in treatment. The ACTION Campaign is entirely free to providers – all of the technical assistance and tools are available at no cost and include:
- Online ACTION Kits that describe promising practices
- Data collection tools
- Case studies
- Tutorial calls
- Online learning communities.
